1. Make Exam Spec

Document Actions
This tool helps you build an 'exam specification file' that will be used to score your exam.

Step 1A: General Exam Information

  1. Instructor's name: (optional)
  2. Institution: (optional)
  3. Course number/ID: (optional)
  4. Semester/term: (optional)
  5. Exam title: (optional)
  6. How many questions does the exam have? (Include all that the students respond to, even non-graded ones such as "What version of the exam do you have?") (required)
  7. How many different versions of the exam are included? (required)
Sometimes, different versions are identical except that the order of the answer choices varies. Sometimes, the order of the questions themselves varies. It is even possible to have entirely different questions on different versions. The only requirement is that all exam versions have the same total number of questions.
  8. What default rule do you want to set? (optional)

If you specify a default rule, it will be used for questions that you don't specify a rule for. This makes it easier to use one rule for most or all of an exam.

  9. Will you provide correct answers through the web (now), or will they come from the first scanned answer sheet(s)? (required)

If you pick "web", you will be able to provide the correct answer for each question via web form (coming up next). If you pick "Scanned sheets", the stack of student answer sheets must begin with one answer key sheet for each version of the exam, containing the correct answers for eqch question. (If you're providing a calibration sheet as well, that must precede any answer key sheets.)
